Beginner guitar chords

Beginner guitar chords, learning to play the guitar seems to be so difficult in the beginning.  I started playing exactly two month ago and found that my fingers could not move in time and my finger tops burnt with pain.  My fingers felt like they did not want to listen to me and did their own thing.  Don’t worry yourself too much when you cannot get those fingers in place on the correct chords.  With determination you can and will be able to play well soon.  No one is born with talent, it will take you loads of hard practice if you want to learn.  The best guitarists did not wake up one day and know how to play, they practiced until their fingers bled 🙂

WILL MY FINGERS ACTUALLY BLEED – BEGINNER GUITAR CHORDS

Bryan Adams sung that he played until his fingers bled, I actually love that song as it seems to hit home with a new guitarist.  My fingers went through a transformation as soon as I started playing.  The pain from playing chords over and over can be very sore.  My fingers have not bled as of yet, I think if you play for hours on end without having a break you can come close.  You will have to play very hard for this to happen.

I was told that methylated spirits can help harden your finger tops but I did not do that.  I played and practiced every day until my finger tops got small calluses on the tops of my fingers.  My fingers took about 3 weeks of constantly playing to get calluses on top of them.  The thought of having a calluses on the top of your fingers can be weird but it was actually cool.

Once your finger tops harden you can then call yourself a guitarist or a rock star or punk star – or whatever else floats your boat.  I did notice that if you stop playing for whatever reason for more than a week your fingers will go back to normal.  Don’t worry as they seem to have a memory as when you play the calluses come back very quicker than in the beginning.

GOOD EASY GUITAR TABS FOR BEGINNERS – BEGINNER GUITAR CHORDS

As a beginner guitarist I found that the below chords were the easiest to play and the easiest to remember.  These chords are also played the most in most Christian worship songs.  If you can remember the below six chords you are well on your way to been able to play guitar.  You will need to memorise these chords and practice them as much as possible.  After you have these chords memorised you will find learning the other chords to be easier.  Learn and practice, practice and learn and before you look again you will be able to play very well – don’t ever give up.

A MAJOR CHORD – BEGINNER GUITAR CHORDS

A

This is one of the most used chords when playing a guitar.  The chord is actually very easy to play.  You will place your index finger, middle finger and ring finger on the 3rd, 4th and 5th string on the second fret.  While you practice you will play this chord a lot and before you look again you will know how to play it without even looking.

C MAJOR CHORD – BEGINNER GUITAR CHORDS

C

The C chord is another very used chord in loads of songs.  This is one of the chords you will know without looking once you have played it a lot.  Your index finger will go on the fifth string of the first fret.  Your ring finger will go to the third string on the second fret and your ring finger will go on the second string of the third fret.

G MAJOR CHORD – BEGINNER GUITAR CHORDS

G

The G chord is my favourite beginner chord to play.  The chord sound beautiful and is also played in most songs.  I found that this was the easiest chord to remember and feels the most comfortable placing my fingers on the chords.  To play this one place your index finger on the second string on the second fret.  Place your middle finger on the first chord of the third fret and your ring finger on the sixth string of the third fret.

F MAJOR CHORD – BEGINNER GUITAR CHORDS

F

The F major chord is also very easy to play and also sounds great.  There are two ways of playing this chord one as in the chord shown above and the other with fingers at one, two and four.

D MAJOR CHORD – BEGINNER GUITAR CHORDS

D

This chord is super easy to get used to, just like the G chord this is easy on the fingers.  Simple and easy to play, put your index finger on string four of fret two and then middle finger on string six of fret two and lastly the ring finger on string five, fret three.  This chord also just sound so nice, try play it and you will see for yourself 🙂

B MAJOR CHORD – BEGINNER GUITAR CHORDS

B

The B chord is the first difficult chord to learn to play on this list, you will need to stretch those fingers out.  Your index finger will go across from chord two to six, covering all the five altogether at the same time on fret two.  Then your ring finger must cover strings three, four and five on fret four.  Try practicing this chord as much as possible while moving to another chord like the G chord.

WAYS TO PRACTICE THESE CHORDS – BEGINNER GUITAR CHORDS

These chords should be practiced separately until your fingers have become used to them.  Learn each chord very well, also learn how to play two chords one after another.  Practice playing each chord with another chord until your fingers can move easily between them.  I would say this should be week one of your guitar practicing, try practice every day for about thirty minutes.

GUITAR CHORDS FOR BEGINNERS PDF – BEGINNER GUITAR CHORDS

Please use this PDF link to download and print the above chords.  Having a printed PDF with the main chords will help you learn these chords easier. This was one of the best ways for me to learn the guitar basics, go through all these for a full week.

LEARN TO PLAY GUITAR APP – BEGINNER GUITAR CHORDS

My favourite APP that can be used on an android phone is Guitar Tuna.  This APP has a few very handy features you can use to learn and even comes with a built in guitar tuner.

LEARN TO PLAY GUITAR APP

The guitar tuner is the best feature of this APP.  I use this whenever my guitar goes out of tune and it work very well.  This also saves you money as you don’t need to purchase an electrical guitar tuner.  The APP also comes with a chord library and learn to play games.  I would totally recommend this APP for the beginner guitarist.

AMAZING GRACE GUITAR CHORDS – BEGINNER GUITAR CHORDS

Amazing Grace is one of my all time favourite Christian songs that I learnt to play as a beginner.  The strumming is very easy to do and you can pick up the sound of the song very quickly.  I suggest you play the below song while trying to strum the chords.  This is the best way to learn and you get to see how the song sounds while playing.  This would be the easiest song to learn to play for a beginner.  I do suggest you make sure you can play all the different chords properly before going ahead with the below song.

IN CONCLUSION

Now that you know what the first step is to learn the guitar, you will need to practice.  Practice every day even if you think you are not progressing, even when those finger tips are throbbing with pain.  My biggest moto with learning to play is NEVER EVER GIVE UP.  I am not writing this to try sound cool, but it is actually what worked with me.  Best of luck and read through our other articles as they will all help you become a great guitarist.  I am also learning with each written article, everyday I am learning with you. BEST OF LUCK and GOD BLESS 🙂
